The Return of the Bison

On March 19, 2012, about 60 genetically pure bison were relocated from a quarantine facility outside Yellowstone National Park to the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in eastern Montana. The long-awaited move marks the historic homecoming of wild bison to an important part of their historic range on the Great Plains.

Protect Our Species

This year’s focus is endangered species. Our world is facing the greatest rate of extinction since we lost the dinosaurs more than 60 million years ago. This is largely the result of human activity including, but not limited to, climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking, poaching, pollution, and unsustainable agriculture.
