What Some of the 100 London Hunger Strikers Had To Say

The 100 London hunger strikers of Extinction Rebellion called for a change in business as usual, for any new Government to make the Climate & Ecological Emergency its highest and most fundamental responsibility. The strikers have three demands:

  • tell the truth with all organizations the government interacts with
  • take rapid action to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2025
  • create and be lead by the Citizens Assembly
Humanity is at a crossroads as it faces an unprecedented Climate and Ecological Emergency. In the UK, Extinction Rebellion joined in the Global Hunger Strike to demand our political leaders act now on the crises we are facing.

“This is a way of just peacefully sitting here, informing the public without disrupting them.”

–Jane explained cheerfully while on day 7 of her hunger strike.

Threats To National Parks in 2019

The Trump administration has undermined, degraded, and attacked the laws and agencies that protect our public lands. The threats include:

  • $2.5 million in national park fee revenue diverted to pay for 4th of July spectacle
  • reduced requirement for power plants to reduce carbon dioxide emissions that pollute our air
  • gutted the Endangered Species Act and weakened its ability to protect wildlife
  • repealed the Clean Water Rule, erasing years of improvement in water protections
  • bulldozed delicate park ecosystems by insisting on a destructive border wall
  • nearly 3 million acres near national parks offered for oil and gas drilling
